How to Contribute

Okay, now that you've visited some, are you ready to comment? Contribute? We're ready ...

200907301557.jpgIn addition to writing your post (perhaps following the suggestions here) you’ll need to post it— so you need access to this site and to the administration page where you can paste your words and hit the ‘submit’ button.

Here’s what you need to do. You must:

  1. Register as a Contributor to InsightsToActions.com
  2. Get your temporary password.
  3. Click back to InsightsToActions.com
  4. NEW Now back at InsightsToActions, go to the Blog Admin space on the right, and note that the ‘register’ link is now the “site admin” link. It changes b/c you’re now a contributor... Click here
  5. Change your password to something you can remember.
  6. Fetch and paste your text. Add a few headers, some formatting, and maybe even an image.
  7. Add some formatting, tags and a category or two.
  8. Save the post. Then, “Submit for Review”.
  9. Finally, send an email to cvharquail@gmail.com so that I (as the blog administrator) can scan my checklist and hit the publish button.
  10. Once the post is published, you can check back to see who’s commenting on your ideas, and reply to them.

Yes, it really is that easy. And it gets easier the second time, and the third …

Here is more detail on each step.

Wait– before you start, remember to EMAIL cv when you’ve posted your draft. We don’t automatically get notified… so let us know!!!

1. Register as a Contributor to InsightsToActions.com

Slide your cursor over to the Administration category on the upper rightmost sidebar. Click on the word “Register”. You’ll be taken to a sign-in page where you enter your name and your email.

2. Get your temporary password.

Swing out to your email, and look for a message from Authet7 (my administration account). The email will have your temporary password (something superfunky like OX4k%%l9EG!Y) and a link back to the site. Copy the password, click the link and come back to the site’s login pages.

3. Click back to InsightsToActions.com

This will take you to the “dashboard”.

4. Change your password to something you can remember.

Move to the left sidebar, down to the category “Profile”. Click here, and then fill out relevant information.
Be sure to CHANGE your PW to something sensible. And, remember to hit the “update profile” button. Now you are all set to post.

5. Fetch and Paste your text.

Open the Post editing Page, by going to the word “Posts” on the upper left sidebar. Click here.

You can now go and fetch your post. Copy the plain text. Then paste it into that empty box, thus filling it with interesting thoughts from a management scholar.

200907301552.jpg 6. Add some formatting, tags and a category or two.

Use the formatting buttons to highlight and format your text. Then, On the right hand side, add a few tags (short words and phrases) maybe about 5 of them. Click the word Add. Tick a category or add one.

7. Save the post. Then, “Submit for Review”.

Proofread your text, then hit the dark blue button on the upper right that says “Submit for Review”.

Send me an email to let me know a draft is waiting, and I’ll take it from there.

I promise you, I will not enlist three anonymous critics to ravage your ideas and self esteem from behind the veil of ignorance. No, I’ll just make sure you have tags, categories and a decent headline. If any editing seems beneficial, I’ll email you back.

Once the post is up, email all your colleagues and let them know to come read your post and leave a comment.

Celebrate that you are now on the cutting edge of scholarship, linking the science of management to the art of managing. Hooray!
