Here are some of the parties and other social events that I have on my calendar, and that I located in the online program:

You can access the online program </a< at http://program.aomonline.org/2009/ and search for "social event" in a particular division of interest, to find parties and such that are in your area of interest.

But there are the semi-secret lists compiled of the other parties. Usually they are the ones hosted by schools looking to build reputation. I have seen them, and gone to some of those events where being part of AOM is sufficient to get in, but not sufficient to be in the know.

I suspect it is a function of core-periphery structure in the acquaintance and friendship network.
